Last of Us Part 2 actor teases ‘epic’ new motion capture project | VGC – Video Games Chronicle

Derek Phillips, the actor who played Abby’s dad in The Last of Us Part 2, has announced he’s working on a new motion capture project.

“Back in my sexy mocap tights,” he teased in an Instagram post on Tuesday. “Can’t wait to share what I’m working on with all of you! It’s gonna be epic!!!!”

Phillips previously provided voice and motion capture for surgeon Jerry Anderson in The Last of Us Part 2 and more recently for Lieutenant Wade Jackson in Call of Duty Vanguard.

In addition, Phillips has numerous game voice acting credits including Dishonored, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Battlefield Hardline, Fallout 4, Rise of the Tomb Raider and The Last of Us.

It was recently claimed that a PS5 remake of the original The Last of Us is nearing completion and could be released in the second half of 2022, and that a The Last of Us Part 2 Director’s Cut is in the works too.

That’s according to industry insider Tom Henderson, whose claims matched information VGC had received via our own sources at the time.

While the project has not been officially announced by Sony, Bloomberg reported last April that a remake of the 2013 PS3 game was in the works for PS5.

It claimed the project was originally in development at PlayStation’s Visual Arts Service Group before the studio was switched to a support role on the game.

The remake’s development is now reportedly being led by series creator Naughty Dog, which is said to have taken charge of the project following the completion of The Last of Us Part 2, which was released in June 2020.

In January, Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann said the studio was “dying to share” with fans “the multiple game projects” it’s working on.

The studio is known to be developing its “first standalone multiplayer game”, which could be the result of The Last of Us Part 2’s delayed online mode having been expanded into its own title.
