First and third place go to Peru! The Peruvian team that developed the video game “Purunmachu” won first place in the “Cultural Heritage Game Jam,” a contest organized by the Office of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State. The team is made up of developers from Peru, Sweden and Iran. Third place went to the game “Ai Apaec” developed by Satoshi Waku. The results were announced at the award ceremony held this morning in Dubai where it was announced that filmmakers from 72 countries participated in the contest.
This contest seeks to celebrate the diversity of art, help prevent the destruction of the world’s cultural heritage, and reinforce its importance and preservation. The objectives of the contest are aligned with the work of the United States Embassy in favor of the preservation of cultural heritage within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, which is about to celebrate 25 years of successful work.
The groups will receive grant funds to continue developing their games and the first prize winners will be invited to participate in the “Video Game Developers Conference” in San Francisco, USA in March 2022.
