Suda 51 says he’s ‘had a few meetings with Marvel’ – Video Games Chronicle

No More Heroes creator Goichi Suda (aka Suda51) has revealed that he’s had meetings with Marvel, a company he’s long wanted to make a game with.

Japanese publication Automaton recently published an interview with six members of Grasshopper Manufacture, including its CEO Suda, which discussed the studio’s plans for a wide-ranging recruitment drive to increase the studio for future titles.

However, as part of the interview Suda was asked for more information on the studio’s plan to release three games over the next 10 years.

“The first thing we’re going to do is create original IP,” he said.

“Until now, we’ve often worked with publishers who have their own IPs, and we’ve been given the budget to make them on commission. For independent studios, this is often the case.

“From now on, we’d like to create three new IPs and launch them one by one.

“However, we have also said that we would like to make IPs that are based on attractive original works, if there are any. I think that will depend on the discussions we have with Marvel Studios. If Marvel Studios comes up with something good, we’ll think about it.”

He then joked: “I’m sorry, I was saying that from the top down, I’m just kidding.

“But we’ve had a few meetings with Marvel, and we’ve talked about the possibility of working together on something. We hope that the power of video games will help to boost these opportunities.

“Basically, though, we will continue to create more original IP for Grasshopper Manufacture.”

The last game in Suda’s No More Heroes series was released in August 2021

Suda stated in August that he would love to make a Deadpool game with Marvel.

“[In terms of] the kind of things I’d love to do, I’d love to work with Marvel on a Shatterstar or Deadpool game, something sort of Grasshopper-y like that,” he said during an IGN Japan livestream. “Maybe a Quicksilver title of some sorts. So, Marvel, you know.”

Speaking to VGC in an interview last year, the No More Heroes creator revealed that Activision had actually asked him to make a game based on the loud-mouthed superhero but that the plans ultimately never worked out.
