The Matrix Awakens demo will be delisted on Saturday, Epic Games has confirmed.

Players have until July 9 to download the free Unreal Engine 5 tech demo, which is available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Once downloaded, players will still be able to access it after its removed from online stores.

The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience

Released during the 2021 Game Awards last December, The Matrix Awakens is a cinematic and open-world interactive tech demo which sees Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity from the film franchise.

The original concept was written and cinematically directed by Matrix co-director Lana Wachowski.

Epic Games released Unreal Engine 5 in April. Key features include dynamic global illumination solution Lumen, virtualised micropolygon geometry system Nanite, Virtual Shadow Maps, and upsampling system Temporal Super Resolution.

The engine was released alongside two sample projects, Lyra Starter Game and City Sample. The latter is a free download that shows how the city scene from The Matrix Awakens was created.

The Epic Games Store is currently giving away multiplayer heist game Hood: Outlaws & Legends, fantasy RPG Geneforge 1: Mutagen, and turn-based tactical roguelike RPG Iratus: Lord of the Dead.

The games are free to download until Thursday, when they’ll be replaced with zombie shooter Killing Floor 2 and RPG card battler Ancient Enemy.
